Troublesome Fibers: The Dreaded Viscose & Tencel
Let's talk about that elephant in the room. That's right, viscose & Tencel! Most fabric protectors are multipurpose. They can be used on the upholstery of homes and vehicles, and they can also be used on draperies, carpets, rugs, and anywhere there is fabric involved. However, the primary use of fabric protectors we know are for natural and synthetic fibers. Nobody wants to work on hard to clean semi-synthetic fibers like Tencel, Modell, Art or Bamboo Silk and even viscose; because these are hard fabrics to clean and are often subjected to the highest degree of wear and tear. There are many types of fabrics and not one protector fits all.
We are proud to announce LUXE Protection for Semi-Synthetics fiber protection. LUXE Protection for Semi-Synthetics is designed for viscose and Tencel fibers. Yes, we said it, LUXE Protection for Semi-Synthetics will allow you to use those fabrics you have been avoiding.
What are semi-synthetic fibers?
Semi-synthetic fibers are made from natural raw materials with a naturally occurring long-chain polymer structure. They are only modified and partially degraded by chemical processes. They are sometimes referred to as artificial silk, and they are considered the hardest fibers to protect and clean until we introduced LUXE Protection for Semi-Synthetics.
Viscose, Tencel and rayon are now being used frequently to produce velvet, chenille, and pile floor coverings. We seek to help you understand these fibers and what to expect when it is used as an upholstery fabric on sofas, chairs, area rugs and carpet.
While these fabrics have many good qualities, resiliency is not one of them. Resiliency is the ability for a fiber to recover from crushing, which happens with sitting or walking. They do not recover from these activities as well as some other fibers. It is important to include one very important fact about semi-synthetics like viscose, chenille, velvet, and various floor coverings; liquid spills and water-based cleaners can be harmful to their beautiful nap. That is why we need to protect semi-synthetic fabrics and why you need LUXE Protection for Semi-Synthetics, as fabric protection for your semi-synthetic fabrics. It can protect the fabric from spilling and soiling. Actually, the protector creates a film over the fabric which retards dust and grime from settling on the fabric. Due to this reason, the semi-synthetic fabric keeps cleaner, lasts longer, and does not require maintenance. It also helps to maintain the lustrous look of the semi-synthetic fabric and keeps it looking fresher for a longer time. It can also protect fabrics from exposure to sunlight and to ultraviolet radiation. In short, it helps fabrics to live longer, wherever they are used.
LUXE Protection for naturals and synthetics will help guard your carpets, rugs and fine fabrics against those unsightly stains. It will not wash out and will keep protecting your fine textile for years to come.
